The domain stays registered to you. The hosting account stays in your name. The admin logins are recorded in a document you hold. Care plans fail to be cancelled mostly because agencies make that handover painful — we wrote the opposite policy and follow it.
If your domain expires next week and you only want that fixed, say so: we will do the renewal and the DNS, and you are not obliged to sign anything after.
